Description

Thoric Mugmaster left his home in Klembdon's Pass about 5 years ago. The reason for his departure was the constant battle he was fighting with the Rodaire. They were beginning to encroach upon his territory and after killing a dozen or so over the period of a few months Thoric decided that it would be in the best interest of his health to leave the area. Needless to say his oppinion on Rodaire is that the only good Rodaire is a dead Rodaire.

Unlike most dwarves Thoric didn't want to live in the cavernous halls that most dwarves call home. He is a dwarf of the open air, though he does prefer the cover of a dense forest over an open plain. Thoric had heard of a little community to the North-East that might fit him nicely so in that direction he headed. At first he was a little awed by the community. He had always lived alone with the only company being his mandolin. The residents of Crowley were also quite surprised by him. Though they had often seen dwarves travel through their little community they had never thought that one might want to stay. They were put at ease, and he found his place in life when he stopped by the Cockatrice Club to have a drink. One taste of the ale there brought a sour look to his face and he quickly boasted that he could make a better brew than this by using his dirty socks. At first all he recieved were sour faces, but when he returned a month later with his own brew and everyone had a taste there was little to be argued about. He was then offered the possition of head brewmaster of the Cockatrice Club and has worked there ever since (running off the rest of the brewers who were supposed to help). Within a year he had created the Minotar's Foam Ale and the rest is history.

Thoric is a very social creature as dwarves go. He loves to drink his ale, visit with people, and play his mandolin. The only problem is that he drinks until he is belligerant, he only talks to people about how wonderful his brew is, and he couldn't hold a tune with his mandolin to save his life. If questioned about his brewing ingredients or the process of brewing he will get very quite and try to leave. If the questioner persists in trying to discuss his brew he will become rude to the questioner. Should the questioner not ease up at this point it is very likely that Thoric will become violent, thinking the person is trying to steal his secret recipe. Thoric is more likely to become irate if he has had his fill of ale.

Thoric is so secretive about his brew that he will refuse to brew a batch if anyone is in his brewing area. If he finds out that someone was in his brewing area while he wasn't around he will dump out the entire brew and find that person for an intense questioning. All of the workers at the Cockatrice Club know about his little quirk and they try and adhere to it. Thoric will often hire adventurers to go out into the forest and find ingredients for his brewing experiments. The bounty that he offers for the finding of these specific herbs, spices, and exotic materials will usually be between 10 and 100 gp, depending on how hard the ingredients will be to find and how dangerous the finding might be. On hiring a group of adventurers for a mission like this Thoric will insist that they sign a contract that stipulates that they tell no one what it was that they find, or where it was that they looked. He will also insist that they swear to silence on their mother's graves, by the name of their god, and swear to die should they reveal these secret ingredients to anyone. Most adventurers simply nod, smile, sign the contract, swear on everything that Thoric insists upon, and then they go out into the forest to collect the items and their pay.

Possessions

Light Mace 1d6+3, Artisans Tools (Masterwork), Mandolin, Clay Jug full of Minotar's Foam Ale, and 25gp. He also has 200 gp hidden in his little brewery that he uses to pay for the special brewing ingredients. Dalehart will reimburse Thoric any amount of money that the dwarf uses to hire adventurers.
