Klembdon's Frolic

Klembdon's Frolic is a dark, wooded area of Terragloria. There is little brush growning at ground level, because the numerous trees block out the sun, letting little but fungus and mold grow below the leafy canopy. It is split into two halves by a small river known as Klembdon's Flow. The land is controlled by the Rodaire and their green goblin comrades. Wild Dokken control the territory around Darkwater Port.

These woods are consecrated land for the Beast and the land, especially around the Left Eye of the Rat, and the Right Eye of the Rat. These woods are the strongest rodaire stronghold in all of Terragloria and they guard it with a ferver.

History

The forest was originally held by elves until almost 700 years ago. At that time the only thing that the elves had to worry about was the annoyance of a small green goblin population and an occasional rodaire spy. It was at that time that the Rodaire made a compact with their evil god, the Beast, who aided them in the overthrow of the elven nation. Most of the elves died in the sudden and devestating plague that the evil one used to destroy the elves. The elves that escaped from the plague were ostrocized by the rest of their people as possible carriers of the deadly virus.

Upon the destruction of the elves the rodaire moved into the beautiful forest. They then began to demolish almost everything elven in the woods. To this day there is very little left of the once proud and strong people. The rodaire then began to use their evil magic to warp and darken the once glorious woods, and within a hundred years they had also made an agreement with the green goblins that allowed the goblins to remain in the forest under the cruel leadership of the rodaire.

The wild Dokken were the only people able to remain in the forest. They survive there to this day because of their stealthy ways and because they remain near Darkwater port - where even the rodair fear to go.

Left Eye of the Rat

At one time this was the elven city of Illianthor. Now it is an unholy plot of ground dedicated to the Beast. The eye is actually a large field in the eastern center of the forest. The field is bare of grass near it's center where a sacraficial stone alter sits. The ground around the alter is said to be red, the result of all of the sacrifices that have been performed here over the past 650 years. There are other stone works in the field that are possible left overs from the days of the elves. It is said that the ghosts of the deceased sometimes appear in this clearing, but that has never been proven. What is true is that the rodaire perform some of their worst attrocities in the name and worship of the Beast here.

Right Eye of the Rat

When the elves rules these woods there were two cities of glory in Klembdon's Frolic. One was the city of Illianthor (now the left eye of the rat), and the other was Loriantholas (now the right eye of the rat). Today there are few markings that this area once housed a glorious city. It is used by the rodaire as a secondary holy ground for the worship of the beast. This would be considered the common rat's holy ground, since it is used more often for general worship of the beast by the masses of rodaire, and the left eye is used by the priests for their more brutal worship of their god.

Rodentia

Rodentia is now the rodaire capital of Klembdon's Frolic, though few know of it's location. It is a warren of caverns cut into a hill next to Klembdon's Climb. No one outside of the rodaire actually knows what is in the caverns, because once a non-rodaire gets into the city he normally doesn't come out. Just outside of the caverns are a set of straw shacks holding the mouser slave huts. These unkept pens emanate a smell for miles around the cavern entrance.

Klembdon's Flow

Klembdon's flow runs from the Sea of Ashes between the Eyes of the Rat, and continues on for twenty miles into the forest. The water flows southward into the Sea of Ashes. Approximately 20 miles south of the Eyes of the Rat the river splits off to the east towards Darkwater Lake. From the Sea of Ashes to Darkwater Lake the water is known to be poisoned, as is all of the water in Darkwater Lake. Upstream, past where the branch from Darkwater Lake attaches to Klembdon's Flow the water is drinkable. Some of the creatures of the lower forest have developed an immunity to the poison, enabling them to drink the corrupt waters, but most creatures will suffer the effects of the poison. The wild dokken will not even touch the fetid water.

Darkwater Port

In it's prime Darkwater Port was a bustling port city. The men of Darkwater actually had a strong trading relationship with the elves in Illianthor and Loriantholas, at least until the rodaire destroyed the elves. When the elven refugees evacuated to the port the men of Darkwater shunned the fleeing elves for fear of the plague. The elves cursed the men that so recently had been their friends, a curse that might have been effective. For the next few hundred years the city remained, but without the trade it was just a shadow of it's former self. Between the loss of trade, and the constant fear of the rodaire most of the citizens of Darkwater Port left the city, leaving only the most die-hard residents who stubbornly insisted on staying. As the decades passed the men of Darkwater Port became more and more retched and evil with each new generation. Many believe that the water was slowly contaminating the humans over the coarse of generations, until it appeared that Darkwater port was a deserted ghost-town. The wild Dokken remain in the area because it offers them protection from the rodaire. It is also rumored that some dark force now lives in the waters about Darkwater Port, and most sailors avoid the area if at all possible.
