Description

Maishak Renwood actually started his clerical carreer in Judaeum, where he was an assistant priest at a medium sized temple in the service of Frost. One of his duties as the assistent priest was to maintain the book keeping for the temple. It was this task that led to his downfall in the Judeum temple of Frost. Often the head priest would have Maishak go to the local market and make purchases for the temple. The priest would write out what was needed, sign the bottom of the paperwork and place his wax seal, with the signature and the seal acting as authorization for the purchases. Coming from a simple village life, Maishak was stunned by the amount of items that the priest purchased. Soon Maishak was creating lists and having the priest sign it after a quick look over it. As Maishak performed this chore he became more liberal with his purchases (and many of the items became more and more useful only to Maishak) until finally the priest refused to sign some of the papers. Purchasing these items had become a habit for Maishak that he couldn't break. Over the next month he studied the priest's handwritting and the wax seal. A month and a half after that Maishak could reproduce the signature and carved a likeness of the seal. The seal wasn't perfect, but it was close enough. Maishak did fine for almost a year after that, but a year's worth of purchases is hard to hide. The priest became suspicious and began keeping tabs on Maishak. It wasn't long before Maishak was found out. He was then thrown out of the temple, and chased out of Judeaum.

At this point Maishak realized what he had done, and what he had lost doing that. He prayed for Frost's forgiveness. That night in a dream he was told to cross the Sea of Ashes and take residence in a community to the north east. Whether this was just a guilt ridden dream or an actual vision is hard to say, but Maishak took it as a sign and on the next boat he went. He was still riddled with guild and this led to his heavy drinking (that still persists today). Once the boat landed the cleric went north and it wasn't long before he arrived in Crowley. Of coarse he was drawn to the taverns, and it wasn't long before he found the Cockatrice Club. He had found a place where his services as a healer could be used, and he could maintain his drunken life style.

Maishak himself is a heavy set man with a shaven head, a few tatoos on his forearms (the result of too much drink around sailors) and a happy, smiling face. If he is seen after 1 or 2 p.m. he will usually be well on his way to being drunken, and by 10 or 11 p.m. he is usually fast asleep and snoring loudly at whatever location he was last at when the alcohol finally caught up with him. He has a pleasant personality, though he does get a bit talkative and obnoxious after 5 or 6 p.m.. He has a filthy mouth when he is liquored up, but continues to spout praises to Frost. He will also begin trying to get "donations" from patrons in order to refill his ale mug. He knows where Dalehart and Kovak's limitations are about harassing the customers, and if a customer looks to begin getting mad he will usually leave them alone to find another source for his "donations".

Maishak will happily use his healing spells on anyone that needs healing as long as he has the spell prepared, and as long as they are willing to pay per spell that he uses. The payment for healing is as follows:
