Johesian of Waterfront moved to this area about five years ago and set up shop. He is a retired wizard from Waterfront who no longer adventures and spends most of his time in study for himself and paying clients. A strange thing happened to him about a year ago. A bugbear had been lurking around his establishment for almost a month. Johesian had noticed it, but felt that it was of no concern of his since his spell casting abilities would quickly put an end to any problems that he may have with the bugbear. One morning Johesian open his front door to find the bugbear sitting on the welcome mat. He quickly began to cast a spell but the bugbear stood up and began begging for it’s life in a manner that no stupid bugbear should have been capable of. The truth of the matter was that the bugbear was actually a human adventurer, who had been turned into a bugbear on one of his quests and wished to be turned back into a human. He could find no help anywhere, and any help that he might try to find in the city would likely put him up on the slave block as a very unique bugbear. The bugbear’s name is Rabinshaw Woods and he agreed to be Johesian’s bond servant until the man could figure out a way to cure him. He had watched Johesian for a month to figure out if the man could be trusted, and since then a friendship has developed.

The structure appears to be just an ordinary large riverstone house. There is a wooden front door, hay roof, and no windows.
Rabinshaw will meet all guests/clients at the front door. He will be short, but polite with them and have them wait in the room while he goes and gets Johesian from some other part of the house. In the center of the room is a stone fountain with the statue of a scholar holding open a book and water pouring forth from the open book. There are marble columns at each corner of the room with everburning torches glowing with a blue light on each column facing the fountain. A wooden door is centered in the middle of the south wall. The door is intricately carved in runes and symbols. The door is always locked and has a magic mouth spell placed upon it that will start yelling “Beware, Beware” if the door is opened without a key. To bypass the alarm a Disable Device check will be needed (DC 25). Rabinshaw, and Johesian both have keys to this door. Upon Rabinshaw’s return the clients will usually be escorted into Johesian’s office (Room 2). Anyone who is a friend of Johesian will be met in this room by Johesian himself.
This room holds two chairs and a desk with an ornate leather chair behind it. Behind the desk is a bookshelf with many fine looking books. Johesian never uses these books for reference as they are only there to impress the clients. The books are an assortment of books on everything from cooking to how to make a sword. Each book is worth 1d6 gold pieces and there are 100 books. Continual flame spells have been cast on the statues of scholars on each northern corner of the room to illuminate the room. This is where business transactions are made. The door to the east that leads to the library is protected the same way that the door from the fountain room to Johesian’s office is protected.
In the center of this room is a long table with Continual light spells burning in small trays on each end of the table. The walls are lined with books of every description. There are roughly a thousand books in here, each worth 1d20 gold pieces. A door in the north wall leads to Johesian’s private room. The door to the west wall leads to the office and is protected as is the room to Johesian's office.
This room holds a bed, a nightstand, and a wardrobe cabinet. The nightstand has a small tray on it with a normal candle. Inside the nightstand are extra candles. Inside of the wardrobe cabinet is the 10 sets of robes that Johesian puts on in his daily life. In a secret compartment at the bottom of the wardrobe is a pouch of treasures. The treasures are 1d20 x 10 gold pieces, 5 gems worth 1d10 * 10 gold pieces, and a ring of invisibility. To find the secret compartment a Search Check is required (DC 20). A secret door in the west wall leads to the tome library. A Search Check (DC 25) is required to find the secret door that allows a section of the wall to pivot around.
This room holds a small round table, book shelves filled with ancient books, and a trap door on the floor leading to another tome library and Rabinshaw’s bedroom. A Continual light spell burns on a small tray in the center of the table. There are approximately 50 books on the bookshelves, each worth 1d10 * 10 gold pieces. The second Tome library is just as this one except there is also a bed down there and a candle burns instead of a continual flame so that Rabinshaw isn’t kept up all night.
