I graduated from Lumberton High School in 1986 and went to Lamar University the next fall. While at Lamar I majored in Graphic Design. I later returned to Lamar University to work on my associate degree of Instrumentation (I was working construction at that time so the instrumentation was neccessary for my work). My next bit of education was company sponsored and it consisted of Autocad and Intellution software training. I later took a correspondence coarse from ICS (now Hartcourt) to learn Visual Basic.
I began the career that I am in now in (HMI programming) as an instrument fitter. I advanced from an instrument fitter to a technician, to an analyzer technician and finally to the computer programming side. As I stated earlier I am working as an HMI programmer doing graphics and linking to automate field controls for operators.
As an artist I am currently doing some freelance work for Mongoose Publishing and have some of my work displayed in some of the Quintessential Guides, Traveler's Tales, Encyclopedia Arcana's and Divine's, and Slayer's Guide to Dragons.
Of coarse my favorite hobbie is drawing. Like so many others who like to draw in the fantasy genre, my love of fantasy started with the works of Tolkien. I was absolutely fascinated by the artwork in the Sword of Shannara (by the brothers Hildebrant). Michael Whelen, Boris Valejo, Frank Frazetta, and Norman Rockwell give me a lot of insparation when I draw or paint. You might say that Norman Rockwell doesn't really fit in this list, and as far as the genre he doesn't. What I like most about his artwork is his ability to tell a story full of life and character in each of his paintings.
My next favorite hobbie would be reading. I read everything from Tolkien to Asimov to King.
Finally there is Dungeons & Dragons. I suppose this give me the biggest release for all of those crazy ideas floating around in my head.
I am married with 3 children. I have 2 twin girls who are about to be 9 years old, and a 3 year old girl who I like to call my little clone. They are my pride and joy! I have a pet iguana who is about 3 years old, a cat, and a dog. I didn't think that I would like the idea of a cat much when my wife brought it home, but after having it now for about a year I must say that I like it more than the dog.
